What to Expect?

Authentic. Alluring. All You.

Since most people don’t model for a boudoir photo shoot on a regular basis, it is only natural to have questions about just what you might be getting yourself into!

First, we are going to have fun! Secondly, it is going to be relaxed. We will start with coffee or tea (or water if that is more your thing!) and get to know each other a little. This helps me know how to capture images of you that really reflect you! Also, you get to know me a little too. Being comfortable makes for the best experience for both the model and the photographer.

Maybe this is a little out of your comfort zone. Just go for it! However, I want to stress that you won’t be asked to do anything you don’t want to do. The goal is to make you feel your best!

What exactly is boudoir photography?

If you look up the definition of “boudoir” you might find a few different ideas. Generally, it is seen as a more physically revealing, intimate form of photography with the goal of empowering women.

For me, I see boudoir as: tasteful, intimate glamour portraits celebrating everyday women.

Women who aren’t models by trade get to be models for a day while redefining what a “model” looks like. It is a way to show ourselves and other women around us that cultural media doesn’t have to define beauty. Yet, it doesn’t undermine the desire for women to want to be and feel beautiful. It is a way to get out of your comfort zone, take time for you, breathe, and be vulnerable. That is beautiful.

I never expected to be a boudoir photographer. I hadn’t even heard of the term until, out of the blue, a friend of mine asked me to do photos for her. She was getting married and wanted a special gift for her husband on their wedding day. Honestly, I wasn’t sure where to start or if I would give her an end product she liked. She let me give it a try. Surprisingly, I fell in love with it. I realized that it was a unique way to use photography as an opportunity to show women how amazing they really look. It’s not about being perfect. None of us are. The goal is not to get rid of every flaw, but instead, to see yourself in the best light.

What should I bring?

Bring whatever outfits you would like. I allow as many wardrobe changes as you are up to! Anything from a simple nightgown, lacy lingerie you want to show off, or your favorite comfy t-shirt and shorts are great options! Want more suggestions?

  • Anything that makes you feel amazing and/or sexy
  • Any lingerie you want to show off
  • Favorite bra and panties
  • Over-sized t-shirt or tank top and boy shorts
  • Anything with lace/shimmer
  • Cute robe or swimsuit cover- up
  • Your sexiest little black dress or maybe something strapless
  • Fishnet or other stockings
  • Statement jewelry pieces
  • Workout leggings and your favorite sports bra
  • Jeans and a crop top
  • Those heels that have been sitting in your closet for too long; or maybe the sky high leather boots

How should I prepare?

You don’t need to do anything special before the photo shoot unless you want to! If you don’t normally wear makeup, and you hate doing your nails, then by all means, your bare face and natural nails will be perfect. However, if getting your nails or hair done professionally and adding a pop of some bold lipstick sounds amazing to you, then this is the chance to go all out. If you book a photo shoot, we can chat more about specific details and suggestions for the best look for you!

Will you share my images?

That’s up to you! If you are willing to share your images, I would be honored to showcase not just your photos, but also your story, through my website and social media. I believe that women should celebrate their bodies and that every woman’s body is beautiful.

However, I totally understand you wanting to keep your images private. I will only display your photos if you give written consent. Most of the images on my site are less revealing out of respect to my clients/models.
